Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented financial analyst to join our team. This role requires an individual who can interpret financial statements, connect financial trends to company goals, understand business and industry terminology, and support sales teams with critical financial and business insights. This position includes extracting valuable business insights from company reports and presentations and researching industry trends and benchmarks.

This role will be pivotal in enhancing our company’s platform, which delivers industry and trade insights to clients’ sales organizations. These actionable insights, complete with charts and graphs, are to empower our clients to develop strategic sales plans and compelling presentations, driving their success. This role will involve researching and developing these insights, transforming the platform into a turn-key asset for our clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct research by reviewing company financial statements, annual reports, industry association studies, investor presentations, as well as navigating other business reports and presentations.
    • Identify and track key financial metrics and trends that impact sales performance and strategic decision-making.
    • Conduct internal financial analyses to assess a company’s operational efficiency and financial health.
  2. Business Strategy/Sales Team Alignment:
    • Analyze and interpret company financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets, to provide actionable insights for sales teams.
    • Connect financial trends to the company’s strategic goals and sales strategies, offering recommendations to optimize sales efforts.
    • Support sales teams by providing company-specific business insights that align with their objectives and drive performance improvements.
    • Collaborate with sales teams and other departments to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  3. Industry Research:
    • Conduct industry-wide research to identify goals, strategies, and initiatives common to that industry. Summarize research findings in written format, for inclusion in a variety of reports and software tools for use by sales teams.
    • Perform benchmarking against industry standards to evaluate a company’s performance and identify growth opportunities.
    • Prepare comparative reports to support strategic positioning and sales strategy development.
  4. Reporting and Communication:
    • Understand, analyze, interpret, summarize, and develop a point of view across multiple information resources.
    • Strong written communication skills with deliverables such as executive summaries, PowerPoint presentations, and graphic representations.
    • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and actionable financial reports and presentations to sales teams and management.
    • Communicate industry trends, company-specific business insights, and complex financial data in an understandable manner to support sales initiatives and decision-making.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, financial best practices, and emerging tools.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to financial reporting and analysis processes to enhance support for sales teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CFA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in corporate/company reporting and financial analysis, with a focus on supporting sales teams and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of income statements, balance sheets, and key financial metrics.
  • Experience in internal financial analysis, industry research and benchmarking.
  • Experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) support and analysis a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to present business insights and financial information in a clear, concise and actionable format for sales support, using excellent writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Skilled in a cross-functional work environment with strong teamwork is needed.
