Job Description:

Our Client is seeking a counsel-level litigation attorney with 8+ years of experience to work with their practice focused on the defense of a myriad of complex general liability matters, including (but not limited to) New York Labor Law, premises liability, catastrophic injury, hospitality, transportation, and negligent security. The ideal candidate is proactive, motivated, and organized and possesses superior writing skills. The attorney will interact with their clients and other domestic and international insurers in this space and in relation to other latent type insurance claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of 25-30 matters
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend court hearings and mediations
  • Draft and submit pleadings, motions and briefs
  • Prepare correspondence to colleagues and clients
  • Conduct complex legal research using Westlaw/Lexis/Nexis
  • Draft discovery requests and discovery responses
  • Review and analyze documents and materials for production
  • Actively investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies
  • Actively and effectively report to our insurance carrier clients and insureds
  • Work on all aspects of litigation, from the initial responsive pleading through trial or mediation
  • Manage and supervise associates and paralegals.

Education and Experience:

  • Admitted to practice in New York
  • J.D. 2016 or earlier
  • Litigation experience
  • Experience taking depositions
  • Excellent academic credentials
